RMIT Property, Construction and Project Management is hosting an International Women’s Day Event entitled: “Women Building Futures: Careers in Property, Construction and Project Management”. We would like to announce our second speaker and special guest for the day who will be presenting at our event: Ms Karina Themis
Karina has been working in the Construction Industry for over 15 years, starting her career working in estimating for a domestic subcontractor while also studying at university. In 2001, after completing a Bachelor of Planning and Design, she started as a Cadet working in Mirvac’s construction division where she gained exposure to high rise residential, commercial and retail developments. She completed a Bachelor of Property and Construction in 2003.
In 2007, Karina joined the team at Hansen Yuncken as a Site coordinator and accelerated to Design Manager as part of the team working on the St John of God Private Hospital Redevelopment in Berwick. During her time at Hansen Yuncken, Karina has had broad exposure, and contributed to, many parts of the business including building maintenance, estimating and bid coordination.
Over the last three years, Karina has led the Quality, Innovation and Design Committee in Victoria. She has introduced intuitive processes to further enhance project team communications and consideration of quality; from the design stage, during sub-contract tendering, and through to completion of the project to obtain optimum project outcomes. Karina is now working with the national quality committee to introduce innovative quality assurance practices nationwide, in addition to her design management responsibilities.
