PCPM researchers Associate Professor David Higgins and PhD candidate Peng Wong recently delivered a keynote address in Shanghai.
Delivered in collaboration with RMIT’s Alumni team and the Australian China Alumni Association, the event saw RMIT alumni and industry converge on Shanghai for the address, “Knowing the Future Property Owner”.
Higgins and Wong spoke to industry and alumni on RMIT’s strength and positioning in the property and valuation discipline, including PCPM’s vision for the future.
Higgins and Wong also spoke on the trends and shifts in the types of property investors – particularly the growth of middle-class consumerism in China, where rapid population growth will position China as a powerhouse over the next two decades.
On the subject of cross-border real estate investment in Australia, Dr Higgins and Wong highlighted in particular the growing trend of “residential tourism”: the trend of Chinese property buyers turning regular tourist visits to Melbourne into home ownership.
