PCPM students support sustainable development activities in India
Eight students from Property, Construction and Project Management (PCPM), Bailey Smith, Merilyn Skelton, Duyen Nguyen, Daniel Galea, Cassandra Mattiuzzo, John Psihogios, Dane Hensgen, Chris Spezza, Mary Tupou and Christos Paras, are on a visit in India to assist in building an orphanage about 55 kms from Bengaluru.
The non government organisation, Vedike, meaning platform supports orphans with housing, education and life skills.
Students learn about Indian culture and Indian history, providing the context and leading to some of the present challenges that India faces. They have the opportunity to visit some of the NGO’s earlier beneficiaries and listen to their stories. Students are involved in a rich rural Indian immersion program. Rural India has limited electricity/internet and students camp in a rural/farm setting during the program with opportunities to explore Bengaluru city.
