New ‘hands-on’ construction skills elective will be launched in July mid-year break

In response to student requests for more ‘hands-on’ experience in building and construction, Drs Amrit Sagoo and Christina Scott-Young of the School of PCPM have worked together with Anna Galuzzo of RMIT VE to develop a brand new practical elective. The new course, BUIL1223 Construction Skills Intensive, will be conducted over a one week period during the mid-year break in July. Students will get their hands dirty with some actual hands-on trade practice in carpentry, surveying, plumbing, and electrical work.
As well as giving students first hand trade experience, the program will also provide:

  • Site visits
  • Key industry speakers

As an added bonus, students will also receive Construction Induction Card (white card) training, which is a requirement for anyone entering a construction site. The School will be sending out an email very soon to call for expressions of interest in this much sought after elective.
